1. The principle is different.
Generally speaking, laser engraving is the use of laser beam burning to achieve localized vaporization of the media surface, while etching is the use of the redox reaction between substances to achieve metal dissolution.

2. The effect is different.
In terms of the current process, laser engraving on many metal media and certain dense substances can not achieve the depth of engraving, often very shallow depth, can not meet the speed requirements. While the depth of metal etching can basically do whatever you want, and can be combined with the paint process to achieve colorful multicolor finishing.

3. Different scope of application.
Laser engraving is more widely applicable, most media can be laser engraving or laser marking, while the etching is limited to metal or stone, etc.

4. Different processes.
The laser engraving process is simple, less process. While the etching process is more process, more details.

5. Different production efficiency.
Laser engraving is suitable for small batch engraving or marking, while the etching process is more suitable for large batch production.

6. Different precision.
Generally speaking, the etching process is more accurate, combined with the photoresist process, the line to 0.01 mm is not a problem.

Therefore, industrial metal keyboard manufacturers, most of them use laser engraving for the following reasons
1. Fast, engraving all the keys of a keyboard can be completed within 10 minutes, so it can quickly complete the customer's order, while etching takes at least 1 day.

2. low cost, because laser engraving is only one process, mainly laser burning. While the etching process first requires several processes, lamination, scribing, and then corrosion with strong acid, time and labor costs are several times more than engraving.

3. Laser engraving is it more environmentally friendly than etching, etching requires strong acid corrosion of metal to achieve the effect, which will lead to environmental pollution. In some cities with high environmental requirements, the government has not allowed the existence of etching factories, they have to move to remote areas. This leads to the communication between industrial metal keyboard manufacturers and etching factories can not be timely, and the logistics cost has increased a lot.
